Join us on Thursday, March 4th for our next QCG Monthly Zoom Meeting!

Jeanette Bagley is going to take us through a tutorial on how to make Prairie Points and show us examples of new and interesting ways that she uses Prairie Points in her quilts. Join us at 6:30PM for a sew along and/or at 7:00PM for the actual start of the meeting. To join our guild and to receive an invitation to our next ZOOM meeting, contact Sheryl Otter at sherylotter@comcast.net. For a definition of what a Prairie Point is…see the following info that I found on the world wide web…

What are Prairie points? Prairie points are folded squares of fabric that add an interesting texture to a project and can be made using any fabric. They look great along borders and even in the body of wall hangings and fabric baskets. They add color and a third dimension to your quilting. Most prairie points are small and are perfect scrap busters.

I hope to see you all on our Thursday Zoom meeting!

January Pin Cushion Project

We will be making a scrappy heart pin cushion, or you can make a block if you wish.  Make it any size you want and decorate it however you wish.  The directions are in the January newsletter.
I made two possibilities.  The first picture is using an orphan block with reverse applique.  Excuse the satin stitch.  The second is one I made following directions from a Quilting Arts magazine from 2019.

Happy Quilting & Happy New Year!!!

The QCG “Art Bee” has been busy…

In November, the QCG “Art Bee” made Art Trading cards. This first picture is a group of Art cards that I received in November. Each card is about 2″ x 3″ (or just about that size), some are three dimensional and all are quite lovely! The second picture features postcards we made and traded for Christmas. This is a fun group and we currently meet by ZOOM. Let us know if you would like to join us for our January ZOOM meeting. Techniques used on the cards include beading, machine embroidery, painting, stamping, sewing and quilting.

Wilma’s Block is done!

I hope that she likes the block that I put together for her! I used different fabrics to make it and put it in the mail yesterday.

Honor Wilma as 2020 QCG Pres…

To thank Wilma Davison for her QCG Presidency 2019-2020, you can make her a 9 patch block in shades of blue and mail your finished block (signed with a permanent fabric marker) directly to Wilma. Cut nine squares 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ out of two (or more) blue fabrics and piece them together. The unfinished block should be 12 1/2″ inches square, and when finished, each block should measure 12″ square. Mail your finished block directly to Wilma to thank her for being our President for 15 months during the Pandemic. An updated copy of our membership list will be included with our next Newsletter and her home address can be found on that list.
